My business partner lives far away and even though we communicate weekly , we miss our simple white board outlining our weekly goals and cool, warm and hot clients.
Can anyone recommend an app or a tool we can use online? Currently we use a word document on drop box, however wondered if there was anything more realistic?

It is more than a whiteboard as you can organise and plan projects using it. Easy to use even on a phone.
I use the Google Drive.
I use the Google Drive. Create a picture document and share it with your friend. The nice thing about this is that it's saved for later, and you can both edit it real time, whilst using google voice chat.
Several Tools
We use Google docs a lot internally for "worksheet" style documents or while we're on phone calls. It's great for collaboration because you can see the changes "Live" while you're on the phone or Skype.
We also use TeamGantt for project management, it's very lightweight and can manage any kind of complex project that might need to be stretched out more than a few weeks.
For sales and pipeline review, we use our own software which is a CRM for training providers and it provides us a nice view of our deals, value, when they're closing, etc. The nice thing about that is then if you want more info, you just drill down into the lead/opportunity records.
Lastly, instead of a whiteboard, we use LucidChart to diagram/draw as it prevents messy handwriting and is great for collaboration!
