How much CPD for managers

when you ask about managhement training are you talking about inital training when managers first get the role or CPD?
Many companies are focusing on on-the-job learning now for CPD often with a coaching programme – the actual number of development hours is difficult to calculate.
If you look at the CIPD survey on this I believe the average was 5 days BUT it did not state on or off the job development time.
As a developer I aim for 10% of my salary on development on top of my employer’s contribution.
Certainly if you can encourage a CPD approach this would be beneficial to the individuals and the business – going for a time target is likly to cost without added benefoit to the organisation
