Manager’s role as coach

Has anyone any suggestions on what to include in a 1 or 2 day training programme to train first time managers on how to coach their staff on setting and managing expectations and general personal development?

  1. Some suggestions
    I would include some core coaching skills such as questioning, listening and goal setting. In addition, as these are new to the role I would add in elements of conflict managment, influencing skills and assertiveness. You may also wish to explore with them how they can demonstrate company expectations through their own use of language and behviour.
