Committed to training
MCB University Press is embarking on a major training initiative designed to develop every member of staff to meet the challenges anticipated in the future.
The company, founded in 1967, employs 150 people at its head office in Bradford, UK and also provides work for over a hundred sub-contractors in Britain and in its international offices in Holland, Japan, Malaysia, South America, Spain and the United States.
MCB, one of the world's leading academic publishers in both print and the electronic media, has produced a training and development strategy with the assistance of 3D Training & Development. Part of this strategy is MCB's commitment to Investors in People which it has embarked upon with the Bradford and District Training and Enterprise Council.
Lesley Dennison, MCB's Human Resources Manager, said: 'Our philosophy is to ensure we have company-wide development opportunities for everybody based on business needs.'
'We have developed a range of skills needs incorporating many issues critical to our business, including such things as customer relations, market insights, business strategy and effective leadership skills.'
The company invited all of its employees to the launch of the scheme at Carlisle Business Centre in Bradford, where the training and development plans were explained in more detail.
