The European Union earlier established a statistical task force, whose aim was to propose ways to measure lifelong learning, covering its multiple aspects. Its work takes into account the policy requirements of the European Commission in the international context and provides an overview of the current situation at European, international and national levels.
The task force's final report includes a methodological discussion on lifelong learning combining all available information at international level, as well as national experience. Different proposals are made to improve existing and develop new sources within the European statistical system. The task force included representatives of Eurostat, the Commission, seven Member States, CEDEFOP, EURYDICE, CEIES, OECD, UNESCO and ILO.
The full 68 page report is available to read and download online in Adobe Acrobat format. It includes a two page executive summary.
