I have been asked to design a mentoring scheme for the local authority I work in. The mentors are to be used as developers of 'talent' in an effort to grow our own future leaders and managers (as we have two-thirds of our workforce over 45).
Does anyone out there have details of how they have introduced such a scheme and how they run it. Ideas on how to recruit these volunteer mentors would be particularly welcome.

LA run mentoring scheme
I work for Haringey and we have a mentoring scheme operating already. The co-ordinator is Judy Rowley and she can be contacted on Judy.Rowley@haringey.gov.uk.
A contact for you
Hi Lindsay
If you contact the following organisation, they may be able to help you with your enquiry. Contact either Gaby Marcon or Alessandra Alonso at Shine People and Places on http://www.shinepeopleandplaces.co.uk. Their telephone number is 020 8371 8540 and tell them I asked you to call. I’m sure they’ll be able to help with your enquiry.
Best wishes and good luck with the project

Training mentors
hi Lindsay
We have a free PDF ‘How to set up a mentoring programme’ which you can have. And as part of setting up the programme, your new mentors will need some kind of training before they start their role. We have DVD’s modelling real-life mentoring skills and scenarios for use in a face-to-face mentoring workshop. We also have a 2-hour online training programme for mentors. Happy to send details.
