Microsoft announce release date for Windows XP. The website offers a countdown to release date, plus many links related to the new application

Following considerable deliberation, Microsoft has finally settled on a release date of 25 October 2001 for Windows XP. This announcement comes after much speculation of a definite date, with a possibility of 2002 mentioned only last week, for the latest Windows application as part of the MS new XP range.

Windows XP will be available for home use Windows Home Edition or for business use Windows XP Professional.
