Microsoft’s farewell to Clippy

default-16x9

Goodbye Clippy we will miss you - or will we? Microsoft drop Clippy Office Assistant in new Office XP - after 4 years he is being axed.

On a light-hearted note, or possibly not, depending on how you view the news from Microsoft, that with the advent of Office XP comes the end of the ‘supposed’ office assistant Clipply. If you hated him you may find this to be good news. Many IT Trainers work with the Office suite on a daily basis, and may have found the so called office assistant, to put it politely, annoying. Somehow he always seems to appear at the wrong time and in the wrong place on most occasions. He has a tendency to sit right over the work you are doing or the help item you are trying to read, often displaying a refusal to be moved or closed. (TrainingZONE feel obliged to point out that Microsoft refer to Clipply, as ‘he’ and this is not an assumption on our part!).

However, in fairness, many people may find his departure rather sad, and Microsoft (with whatever conclusion you deem fit to apply) have created a website dedicated to him. You may read the Microsoft report on him at: Farewell Clippy: What's Happening to the Infamous Office Assistant in Office XP
Or visit Clippy’s website: Office Clippy. Try it - it really is quite amusing!
TrainingZONE is interested in member’s views on the demise of Clippy. Response please – purely for fun to:Kathleen Hopper
