Supermarket giants Asda and Tesco are going head to head over capturing the 214-hour supermarket shopping market. The result is an expected increase in jobs in the two companies creating upto 2,000 further posts.
Tesco currently has 280 24-hour shopping stores and plans to increase that number to 355 by the end of September.
Asda, the store owned by the American Wal-Mart Group currently have 86 24-hour stores and plan to increase this to 123.
One supermarket analyst is reported as having said that, "If it simply spreads what people would buy in normal opening hours it will eat into profits."
