New MD for City and Guilds

City & Guilds has appointed Richard (Dick) Winterton as its new managing director.

Currently chief executive of Skills for Justice, Winterton previously worked for the RAF and the Police Skills and Standards Organisation.

Commenting on the appointment, Chris Humphries, director general of City and Guilds said: “We are absolutely delighted that Dick has agreed to accept this position, which will provide a tremendous opportunity for him to direct his energy and passionate commitment to skills to building on almost 130 years of success for City & Guilds qualifications.”

Winterton, who is expected to take up his new post on 30 July 2007, said: “I have worked with City & Guilds for many years and have a huge respect for the organisation. I very much look forward to building on the many strengths I have found and leading City & Guilds Awards into a challenging future.”
