Coventry University College today announced the launch of a new partnership with the HP Institute. The HP Institute is an academic partnership programme created to provide students with the business-ready IT skills that are in deficit within the industry.
The College aims to extend its capacity in developing IT technical professionals, leveraging the College’s content delivery and HP’s deep technology expertise and broad customer knowledge.
Coventry University College, a wholly owned subsidiary of Coventry University, provides courses that have been designed to integrate study around peoples’ lifestyles and commitments. The College opens its doors to students in September 2012 and aims to deliver courses to 1,500 students in the first year, rising to 3,500 students by 2015. The College offers a wide range of academic and professional courses across a broad spectrum of subject areas including accounting, banking and legal studies, sales and marketing engineering and IT.
The levels of qualification available through the HP Institute provide progression opportunities for driven students seeking a career in IT or other disciplines. The HP Institute provides an industry leading transferable curriculum for the new HP Accredited Technical Associate (ATA) certifications which validate performance in four key areas: Connected Devices (PC, Printing); Networks; Servers and Storage; and Cloud.
“We are delighted to be among UK universities to deliver the HP Institute,” explained John Dishman, CEO and Director, Coventry University College. “Coventry University College is committed to providing high quality education which is relevant, innovative and at the forefront of technological developments. Our new status as an HP Institute encapsulates these commitments perfectly. Our association with Hewlett Packard, with its status as a global leader in information technology, means that we will be able to attract more students, improve their employability and help them to become the IT professionals of the future.”
Nick Wilson, vice president and managing director, HP UK and Ireland, stated “Forward thinking institutions like Coventry University College need to ensure graduates leave with the professional skills that employers need right now. They are leading the response to the drive to diversify the higher education sector by making education accessible to everyone. Coventry University College is forging a reputation with a new concept which has strong synergies with both our brands – innovation, high quality, flexibility, relevance and excellence in customer service.”
Coventry University College will be hosting a launch event for the HP Accredited Technical Associate (ATA) training programme at the University campus on Thursday 26 July. Coventry University welcomes all businesses to attend and find out more about how HP ATA could help their business.
