News: Initiative launched to support independent elearning providers

Freelance elearning professionals are being invited to join a cohort to help them provide new services and find new opportunities.

mylearningworx, a ‘crowd-sourced’ content learning platform, has launched worxsmiths, a collaborative initiative that aims to deliver crowd-sourced elearning solutions to independent providers.

The cohort hopes to connect freelance elearning professionals from all areas of the industry, including instructional design, script writing, graphic design, content authoring, development, project management and strategy.

The first cohort event is taking place on 9 July 2014 in London, giving attendees opportunities to work for new clients, discounts on various items, support for showcasing skills and content, and free or low-cost training.

Martin Belton, mylearningworx managing director, said that independent elearning producers have been the unsung heroes of this industry for many years.

“We think it’s time that elearning producers started to enjoy a little more recognition for their work, if only across our own small sector.

“Being part of the cohort will enable freelancers to retain the benefits of being independent, but with the support and recognition that a bigger group can provide – that means extra bandwidth, resources, costs savings and of course more opportunities.”
