Prime Minister Tony Blair has squashed the idea of a special bank holiday to mark the Queen Mother’s 100th birthday.

The Prime Minister explained that the royal household had been consulted and they were happy with the decision not to have a bank holiday on 4th August, the date that had been suggested.
