Definition of development
Mark
Can you give any more information: In what context are you working?, Who is the definition for?, Why do you want it?, etc.

OD Definition
Hi Mark,
Ed. Schein (Organisational Culture and Leadership) provides a workable definition:
A planned process of change, managed from the top, taking into account both the technical and human sides of the organisation, and using inside and outside consultants in the planning and implementation of the changes to be made.
This is as an area that the Council is directing much effort at the moment. If you want to discuss further, give me a ring.

Ian.
An OD definition
Mark,
I like this, and I hope it helps:
“Organisation development is concerned with the planning
and implementation of programmes designed to improve the
effectiveness with which an organisation functions, and
responds to change”.
Derek Sheane
I have plenty of other thoughts – let me know if I can help further.
