After a year of many ups and downs for dot.com companies, those that made it up to christmas are reported to have experienced an extremely successful season.

Jupiter MMXI, an internet research group state that the more well-established sites and traditional high street names appear to have benefitted the most and sites such as Woolworths and Tesco have overtaken the newer dot.coms, even though Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk have once again been the two most popular UK retail sites before christmas.

Those sites that appear to benefit the most are those that can integrate business both online and offline. This christmas, most sites appeared to have overcome many of the disasters faced last year when they experienced increased seasonal traffic and demand.
