They need to understand one another
Mel,
I would suggest that as a starter they should understand the way each other works, to try to build some bridges. If you can get them working together they will be stronger and more likely to achieve success through their teams.
There are lots of communication styles / personality style profiling questionnaires available. One that springs to mind is Honey and Mumfords Learning Styles which is easy to complete and explain. If you start with a discussion of their own styles you can then lead on to how they can make concessions to relate to each other more effectively and then make plans for improving teamworking.
