I thought this would grab your attention - I've adapted this from an old saying;
"one persons rubbish is another's treasure..."
So be careful what you throw out!
More importantly take note of what you're doing. Others are and they're drawing inspiration from you all the time.
The other week I sat watching and listening to Eddie Izzard share his epic journey around Great Britain, by running 46 marathons in 51 days. I was completely transfixed and felt totally inspired by him.
Never mind the fact that he's ran 45 marathons more than the one I'm going to run on 25th April...
Never mind that he was overweight, out of shape and had never before ran that far...
If that's not enough to inspire you, it's the fact that he just decided one day to get up and DO something. Something for the benefit of others, and something that would give others HOPE.
In last week's blog I wrote about Hope & Gestures, and shared how simple gestures fill people with hope.
When people like Eddie Izzard get out there and give everything they have, mentally and physically, it's difficult not to be inspired. Its given me the determination to know that I WILL complete my marathon.... whatever happens! It's also given others determination to do similar things.
A good friend of the family provides me with the same feeling of inspiration on a regular basis. Nothing is ever too much for this person, and I mean, nothing.
How many people can we really say that about? How many of you reading this (as Trainers, HR Managers, Leaders) give people a regular source of inspiration? I bet many of you do; that's why you do what you do in some cases!
My family friend thinks nothing of giving up her evenings and weekends to co-ordinate events, provide support to others, bake cakes or even sell hoodies! Recently, at a prestigious HSBC Awards event she won an award in recognition of all her efforts. On congratulating her, she was very humble indeed and chose to talk about the fact that she had received £1000 towards her niece's new Charity Appeal.
WOW - that just blew me away.
Many of you know similar people I'm sure. The great thing is, this person doesn't consider herself to be inspirational. That's ok, because a lot of us do. Jan would say she draws her own inspiration from a truly incredible young woman - her niece Hannah who is proving to the world that life is a journey to cherish...

I would love to hear about the people who provide your regular inspiration. I'd encourage you all to take time out to shout about them. After all, they are inspirational...
Until next week, many thanks for continuing to read my blog.
Regards
Jeff
