We have 4500 IT users across 10 sites in the UK and NI. In the 1st instance we want to get a picture of the overall level of IT competence and break this down by site. We then want all new recruits to complete this as part of the indution process.
I've looked at a couple of tools with potential suppliers BUT the costs are prohibitive for our budget and in the absence of our own LMS collating the results is an issue!
Has anyone carried out a similar exercise? If so can you recommend a product/tool???

on line assessment – on the cheap?

In the first instance, have you talked to your local LSC or college as there are pots of funding around for IT skills development? The magic words are ECDL or CLAIT.
Have you spoken to your IT team as many IT departments have assessment software that comes with the licenses they buy – they just don’t know they are there!
