Open Questioning Techniques

Open questioning techniques encourage detailed responses by asking questions without suggesting specific answers. This method is particularly valuable in action learning settings, where facilitators use open questions to help participants explore problems and develop solutions independently.

I am looking for any training that is being carried out on “specific open questioning techiques” in particular, in the West Midlands / Birmingham area. These would be in relation to Action Learning questioning.
Can anyone help?

  1. learning by practice
I feel the best way to learn open questioning in action learning, is by being a member of a set. In this way, the facilitator should model ‘good’ questioning and encourage participants to do this. If you are member of a set that’s working well, and carrying out process review, you will have discussions on what works (is good questioning) as opposed to what is unhelpful. I currently facilitate a couple of sets in Birmingham.
