Out and about at WOLCE – Day 1

default-16x9

Innovation seemed to be the order of the day at WOLCE. Not only was it a great atmosphere but it seems that there are lots of great people about the place too. Our Tweet-up went ahead as planned and I got to meet some really interesting folks - apart from a few software issues, we managed to tweet and live blog our little gathering. And to be honest, while it was an experiment of sorts, not having arranged one before, it was really insightful - rather than floating about aimlessly handing out business cards, we all came together with a common purpose - to interact. And to think, all this was arranged through the internet. It certainly proves all those doubters who said social media was anything but. I also got to meet the enigmatic Nigel Paine, a regular contributor at TZ but also an extremely proficient public speaker who presented the keynote speech at the end of the conference - it was most enlightening - and his chosen subject was the engaged learner. He explained that engagement is about innovating and innovating is what ever you want it to be so long as it pushes the envelope and challenges you to think in broader terms when it comes to delivering your training. It got me thinking about what innovation is - and what it means to others. I'll let you know when I find out. I will be live blogging again tomorrow so please pop past stand D110 and say hello if you get the chance. Enjoy the rest of the event! Verity
