In Prime Minister’s Question Time yesterday in the House of Commons, Tony Blair announced a scheme to encourage both more employees to volunteer their time to community projects and more employers to provide at least a day off per year within working time.

He said he would be participating himself, and encouraging his own staff to take part. Later announcements suggested he “would he helping with reading support in a school”.
