Problem Solving

default-16x9

Hi all!
Can anyone recommend an activity that covers the following

1. problem solving theme
2. Encourages solutions
3. 9 participants
4. up to 1 hour long

I would like to use Colour blind but some of the delegates have already delivered it as trainers or even participated through their own development. Same goes for Helium Stick, I am researching on the web and have plenty of discussion points to draw out the learning needs I have identified I just need the actual task now.

Thanks in advance for your input!

  1. Training Game
We have a great free training game on our website called, ‘Origami Barmy’, which might help you with this.

The rules are a little too long to list here, but the basic premise is that you ask both teams to make something out of origami. However, one team has clear instructions and the other team does not. So, although the game is based on problem solving, one team is heavily advantaged. This helps develop lots of discussions. You can download this for free on our website http://www.trainerbubble.com just search for ‘Origami Barmy’. If this doesn’t suit, there is bound to be something else there for you as it’s a big collection.

Another activity that is not on our website, although I should add it, is this…

Place participants into two teams and provide each with a few items i.e. string, sticky tape, paper etc. and also a wine glass filled with water. Their task is to find a way of getting the glass across the room without touching the floor or spilling any water. The team that does it in the quickest time is the winner.

There’s not really any secret to this, as it’s all about the communication during the activity. Although the best ‘cheat’ I saw was a team who placed the glass on a sheet of A4, taped the string to it and pulled it along the ground…although they did spill the water!

[Edit] I’ve just added the game to our website for you. It is called, ‘Don’t Spill It’ at http://www.trainerbubble.com

I hope something here or on our website helps.
