Project Management for Non Project Managers

default-16x9

My company has gone through/is going through a recent restrucutre.  Part of that change is elevating some client facing staff to manage larger clients that cover multiple services and deliveries acros our business.  I'm looking for a project management trianing solution that can offer project management outside of any specific type of project management like Prince2,etc.

I saw another post similar to this but it was from 5 years ago so thought I'd see if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks for all your help.  I've come to a solution and will let you know the outcome once we have embarked on our plan.

Cheers,

Karin

  1. E-learning Options for Project Management

If your target audience size warrants this, one option might be to offer some generic e-learning in general project management skills.  This way you can be sure a consistent approach will be taught and the courses will always be there for refreshers in the future.  You could always blend these with your own practical workshops, maybe led by any internal project management experts or champions you may have.

I can suggest two providers who each have suites of modules that cover general project management principles.

  2. Project management for non project managers

This is an important question and one I need to be careful about as my company, Project Agency specialises in this area.

Many people suddenly find themselves ‘involved’in a project. The key issue for them is in the question – what role do they play and what skills do they need to deliver in thier new role. A lot of staff get involved in projects the key is to train them in the areas they need – which will fall outside PRINCE2. We have a range of modules and can work with you to develop a package of development that meets needs either course based, on the job, faciliated learning etc.

More than happy to talk if you wish about how we can help

Finally, I have tried to play down my response as we work in this very area so my aplogies if this appears to be too self promotional

  3. Project management training for non-project managers

What part of the globe are you in as this is exactly what I do. I’m based in Ireland and have developed a training course for this purpose based on the PMI PMBOK.

    Best regards

  4. Project Management Trainer Recommendation

    Hi

From the initial post there isn’t a definite answer and you need to speak to an expert who can find out more and make suggestions.

I recommend you contact Spencer Holmes, Managing Director at Global Project Leaders Ltd. He travels the World teaching and learning from project people in many different settings. Feel free to drop him a line at [email protected]

They also offer online pyschometric testing for Project Management.

    Good luck.
