A customer of mine is anxious to obtain some Psychometric tests to use when rectuiting for his insurance company. Does anyone have any ideas of where he can get these - as cheaply as possible, needless to say!

Access to Psychometric Tests
Valid & reliable psychometric tests can be purchased from any of the following: OPP, SHL, ASE, Criterion, A & DC, PCL, PSL, QUO etc. The BPS (www.bps.org.uk) publish a directory of all accredited tests & publishers. Access to these tests (ability & personality) is restricted to those who have completed a recognised Level A or Level B qualification. Again the BPS will be able to point out who is able to provide this.
There are many, many tests out there, the majority of which do their job very well. However, there are an equal proportion of less useful, less robust measures out there. Stick to the recognised publishers, ask for them to justify the appropriateness of their recommended tests (i.e. how do they know it measures what it says it measures, are there comparison groups relevant for your insurance firm to help you interpret the results?).
Happy to talk through (07967 993348) or by email on conall@workingpsychology.co.uk if you want any more support.
Good luck, Conall.
What is their outcome from the tests?
As Conall rightly points out there are many providers and many types of test. Personally I would find out more about exactly what your client want to get from the tests. Then you are better placed to be able to advise! There are several tests available freely on line (try searching Google with ‘Psychometric Tests’ as the search string!
Hope this helps some!
