Research Day for Coaches and Mentors

default-16x9

Coaches and mentors from all over the UK are to meet in February to share latest research in their field.

The event, to be held at Sheffield Hallam University on February 9, is the fifth in a series of successful Mentoring and Coaching Research days, held jointly by the university's Mentoring and Coaching Research Unit and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).

Host Dr Bob Garvey he and his colleagues had originally intended to run one Coaching and Mentoring Research Day a year - but the event had proved so popular they now ran two.

"It's a great opportunity for people to discuss their research ideas or proposals, present their research or simply catch up with what's happening in research," he said.

"It's also a good opportunity to network with practitioners, consultants and researchers in the field."

The agenda for each Coaching and Mentoring Research Day is created by the people who attend, so far, topics for the next one include:
- coaching and mentoring in the health service;
- online coaching competence;
- benefits and outcomes of coaching in relation to reducing workplace stress.

Dr Garvey said the last Mentoring and Coaching Research Day had been a great success. "We had coaches and mentors from the business, health service and education sectors there and it was a great opportunity to explore the differences and similarities between coaching and mentoring in these different fields," he said.
