Diversity training at the Royal Mail has been recognised with an award from Race for Opportunity.
The organisation, a public and private alliance that works to ensure race is a key part of the business agenda, recognised Royal Mail as one of the UK’s most improved organisations.
This progress includes training the workforce in diversity awareness, issuing a guide to managers on diversity, and religious festivals and leave entitlement, measuring feedback through Have-Your-Say surveys, and establishing diversity champions across the business to promote inclusion and access to support.
Royal Mail has also invested in a free confidential helpline staffed round the clock by professional, independent counsellors who offer advice and support to people concerned about bullying and harassment.
Adam Crozier, Royal Mail’s Chief Executive, said that ensuring equality of opportunity was crucial for the organisation's future success.
“Royal Mail employs a diverse mix of people from the communities we serve. Fully harnessing the talents of all our people is vital to ensuring Royal Mail is competitive in a market where customers are diverse and expect to be served by people with whom they can identify.”
