Skills Audit

default-16x9

I work for a local authority and have been asked to do a Skills Audit for the whole organisation. There are over 15,000 employees and I wondered if anyone can offer any help and advice as to where I can obtain any relevant information to help me with this project?

  1. Skills Audit
Are you looking at a self classification system based on core skills or a more corporate approach – or both

  2. The Starting Point
Do you have an existing skills framework against which you are to audit your staff, as this will have a major impact on what your starting point may be.

With 15,000 you will have to decide whether to go for a sample group, reflective of the entire organisation or whether to use appropriate tools (I’m a great fan of online surveying) to survey the entire employee base.

And are you looking for staff to rate themselves or have others also contribute to the ratings, i.e. 360-degree.

Needless to say, the more detailed the analysis, the better the results against which you can make more certain predictions, etc.
