"The Skills Task Force’s formal remit is as follows :
* · To assist the Secretary of State in developing a national skills agenda which will ensure that Britain has the skills needed to sustain high levels of employment, compete in the global market and provide opportunities for all.
The Skills Task Force will provide advice on :
* The nature, extent and geographical and industrial pattern of skill needs and shortages (together with associated recruitment difficulties) and how the country can monitor these effectively on an on going basis;
* practical measures to ease skills and recruitment difficulties, and to help raise the level of sustainable employment, both in the long term and short term;
* the likely changes in the longer term skill needs of the economy and the extent to which these needs will be met on the basis of existing trends;
* how best to ensure that the education and training system responds effectively to needs identified"
