Knowing the changes in trends for Social Networking media and popularity of social networking sites are there any ideas for putting together a workshop on social networking for the none computer generation.
It is for a charity who are looking at promoting what they do through social networking sites but they need to have some idea of what it is all about. I am writing an article in advance of doing a workshop for them in the next twelve months so this is my first steps into doing the research.
Where can I start my research? Are there any facts and figures, white papers, and other reading I can use and reference.
Thanks for you help.
LJ

Social Networking Stats – Where to Start
The best place I find for SM stats, is to go to: http://www.iia.ie/resources/. Alternatively, feel free to get me on Twitter. I do very similar to what you’re suggesting already and could probably point you in the right direction.
If you feel you’re not up to it, you can always give me a call and I will deliver the session for you.
social media and charities
I found this site recently – and it’s specifically aimed at charities etc. I found it interesting and inspiring – hope it helps you too.

And I downloaded an informative e-book from this site http://www.tweetieandthebrain.com
I’m thinking of setting up an online network for groups interested in social media so if you’d like to be kept informed about that – drop me and email.
Good luck

Free Social Media Training For Charities
Hi LJ,
Don’t know if it’s of use to you but we do run a 3-day Social Media For Charities programme in London commencing January 2010.
If the charity has more than 5 employees they should qualify for the funding and our £500 charity donation pays the contribution required from the charity.
