We are in the process of organising our annual conference and are keen to have one of the breakout sessions focussed on staff development. The problem being that delegates at the conference will come from a wide range of organisations and backgrounds. We are keen to have specialists or industry leaders running these workshops - anyone have any contacts or suggestions?
Thanks.

The Transition from Training to Learning
I think one of the big challenges for staff development is about the transition from training to learning. I am not sure where your organisation is up to on this transition so it is hard to answer this question in detail but I would want the workshop to focus on the vision for staff development and how to make that move into a more learner centred environment. I have done something similiar before for a client and it would involve a number of participative activities as well as insights from other organisations and how they are meeting this challenge.

Staff development
Dear Janis,
I would recommend a number of activities in order to get the most from the time available, however, it would depend on numbers and desired outcomes. Making the Link Ltd helps clients get the most from their events through attention to detail and working to your brief. See us at http://www.makingthelink.co.uk

What areas of “staff development”
Janis
Perhaps this question opens an area for a workshop….
~the organisations’ policy for staff development
~the managers role
~the staff members’ responsibility
~training or learning
~evaluation
~self development
~coaching culture
~mentoring
I’ve done similar for organisations in the past and there is a whole heap of activity entirely suited for disparate groups from a range of organisations.
I hope this helps and am happy to talk further

Hi Janis
What an exciting opportunity. I would love to chat to you about it. Help define what you want the session to do etc. It is what we are passionate about. Have a look at http://www.uniquesolutions.co.uk
More than happy to chat through ideas and if I can help with contacts I will.
I recommend Ken Buist at Personal Transformation
Hi Janis,
I would recommend that you contact Ken Buist of Personal Transformation Ltd. He has an excellent background as a CEO, in industries such as pharmaceuticals, FMCG, technology and worked with world class companies. Ken has developed great tools and workshops for staff development. contact him on 01732462444 or at ken.buist@thetrustedadviser.com
Conference – staff engagement session
Hi Janis,
It sounds like a great opportunity to get everyone to explore the idea of personal leadership. The idea that everyone takes responsiblity for their part of the business – in terms of contribution, attitude and exploring how they can best release their unique talents.
At R&A we work with many large global organisations, facilitating conferences and running programmes and workshops. Our conferences are always interactive, fun (with a serious message)and get people thinking about what they can do differently.
If you’d like a chat about ideas and what’s possible, give me a call/email.

staff devlpt
Hi Janis!
I ditto many comments already made and would like to build by saying that the overall context of the conference would be useful info for anyone looking to effectively support the staff develpt session. Would suggest that you probably need to have a face to face chat with a few providers and do a bit of a tender process to get the right fit of peple for your organisation. You will have a choice of thousands but why not start with the people who have responded to your message?!!
Happy to have a tel chat on 07884070466. I have facilitated and contributed to many large mgmt conferences.

Thanks!
Thank you to everyone for all your comments. I have lots of things to think about now and hopefully we can make this a really enjoyable session for everyone who attends.
