The government has released statistics on the update of places and the level of involvement in its New Deal initiative. Up to the end of January 1999, the figures show:
– 64,000 new jobs have been secured
– 54,000 people have been moved into education, training and work experience
– 42,000 employer agreements to participate have been made.
