Staying Healthy at Work is promoted as offering practical advice on how to juggle demanding schedules, colleagues and commitments without forgetting the most important element of them all: you.

The book proposes to have four basic purposes: -

- to assist you, as a manager, in becoming continuously aware of the status of your health
- to help you learn several health concepts and techniques and plan a staying healthy routine
- to demonstrate ways of following through your staying healthy routine
- to demonstrate how staying healthy is the cornerstone on which other life roles, and probably satisfactions, depend.

The book offers a wide range of practical activities to work through and by providing space within the book it encourages the reader to complete them. This is a very useful tool as it enables the reader to easily refer back and see what progress they are making in managing their health and stress.

Whilst I would recommend this book to colleagues, in fact it is already doing the rounds of the office, I found the use of most of the case studies tedious and uninspiring. Many of the examples were confusing and to be honest, boring, particularly the case study concerning Ugg and Nog, (was this supposed to be humorous?). As someone whose stress level is often extreme I found that trying to relate to these case histories possibly increased my stress.

However, if you ignore the case histories and concentrate on the personal activities, this book can raise your awareness of your health status and point you in the right direction for the future.
