Supervisor Training

default-16x9

I'm delivering Team leader training in August and I need some good material to help the leaders make the transition from Team member to acting like a manager. Can anyone suggest some good training materials?

I’m not sure in this instance if you’re headed in the right direction or not. Team Leaders in most industries do not need to be and should not be managers.

The point of leadership is to give the team focus, direction, motivation and assist them to getting to their goals. It is not to “manage” the function – whilst I would agree there is a bit of overlap between the two titles the more you make these people feel like managers rather than leaders the less successful they will be at leading their teams.

The only exception to this I can think of is high-level teams but as these folk seem to be “transitioning” from front-line troops I suspect that this is not the case.

So I’d conduct a strong TNA as to what is needed before preparing a programme for a transition that they may not be making.

  2. training
    Hi Julie

I’ve recently been doing some training to Team Leaders on Attendance Management. This focused on RTW interviews and conducting Attendance Management Meetings.

They’ve proved really popular and gave the TLs some basic grounding on what areas they should be covering.

If you give me your email address I can send you on the material I put together, obviously you would need to amend to suit your own company’s procedures etc.

I’m currently looking to do something along performance management, this is still in the early stages.

  3. Attendance Management Training material
Hi Alistair would you be able to e-mail me too about the Attendance Management material. I have to put together a training package for managers for this as well. My e-mail address is linda.george@bradford.gov.uk
