t Magazine – worth checking out!

default-16x9

If you haven't come across it before, t Magazine is well worth a look. It's been going since April 1995 and, rather like TrainingZONE, is written for anyone involved in the world of training.

Its main remit is to make links between a sometimes disparate readership who work in all areas of training and education, be it colleges, private training providers or public and voluntary sector organisations. Editor Peter Maxted says he's pleased to see the moves being made now towards bringing these together: "the increased use of the word learning definitely helps".

What's interesting about t is the rather irreverent and refreshing approach it takes to its subject matter - this is particularly evident in the "t talks back" areas on the website.

The website proves rather more colourful than the magazine itself, which is mostly black and white text and photos, with colour restricted to the front and back few pages.

There is however plenty of detailed content in the magazine to interest those prepared to ignore initial appearances. The content covers a mixture of news and editorial features, reporting on DfEE and other government initiatives as well as moves within the FE and HE worlds.

There's a regular contribution from Bill Lucas from the Campaign for Learning, and this month's issue has articles from the chairman of the Association of Learning Providers and extracts from a recent speech given by Anita Roddick from the Body Shop on the role of business in the wider world. A fun touch is the 'far sight' cartoon corner each month - the current one sees a monolithic TEC disappearing gradually into a hole!

t Magazine is offering TrainingZONE members a year's subscription (10 copies) for £69.95, which is a 20 percent discount on the normal price of £89.95 until the end of August.
