‘The Company’ part one: What is professional supervision?

Company_1_thumb

This is the first episode in a series about a fictional company's journey towards quality in training and excellence in learning.

In this organisation the chief executive, Sue, is eager to work towards becoming a learning organisation, however, not all of her executive team are supportive of her plans. She knows that to achieve her aim she has to develop an environment where learning, creativity and innovation thrive.

She also wants her organisation to be recognised as working to quality standards in their training and achieving excellence in their learning so that it meets both business and individual needs and addresses clear gaps in performance. At present, she has a team that is stuck in a rut and used to doing things the same old way that they have always done before - this just won't do! What she is not sure about is how many of her team actually want to change their behaviour and aim for this goal as well.

Each week here on TZ we introduce you to each of the characters and offer you a 'birds-eye' view into the daily lives of the senior management team and their reports as they progress through the pains of accepting the changes that must take place if they are to achieve their goal. As with any organisation the transition needed to adopt quality and excellence principles is not always straightforward, but neither is running a business...
