It's episode 3 already! Hasn't this week flown by? Hmm? My week has consisted partially of encounters with door-to-door saucepan saleswomen (don't ask), but mostly organising the next couple of weeks of events. First up is Learning Technologies. Have we mentioned this yet? If you are attending then come to our tweet-up. We'd love to put faces to some names, and for people whose face we know already, we'd love to see your mugs again please. 1pm, day one, the TrainingZone stand. Get involved here, and here.
Something else on my radar this week was Apprentice reject Alex Epstein's PR gaffe (or was it deliberate?) whereby he pitched his services to every media company and his dog without BCCing the recipients. Silly Alex. Dan Martin, the editor of our sister site businesszone.co.uk wrote an interesting blog post about its impact and what we can learn, as business people, journos and PR lackeys from the whole debacle. Read that here.
More exciting news; imminent on the horizon is the new TrainingZone shop, now rebranded as shop@trainingzone. Obviously the previous incarnation was perfectly functional, but anything can be improved upon, and improve we have. We have more courses, we have more suppliers and we have much better internal functionality, to name just a couple of improvements. We're still fine-tuning things but expect a launch date towards the end of next week. So, on to the next topic. Being skint. For the wage slaves among us, there's not long to go now, for the freelance among us, hassle your clients' accounts departments, and until next week have a quiet weekend in front of the television, and celebrate with a nice roast a week on Sunday. In between now and a week Sunday however, there is 'Blue Monday', allegedly the most depressing day of the year, for whatever reason: namely, no-one's been paid yet, Christmas is but a distant memory and January has vanished in a trace; Your mind wanders, filling with existential woes ahoy. It's in times like this that you can only put life in perspective and realise that if you have a job and a roof over your head, and as a bonus if you like what you do, then it isn't so bad is it? Celebrate that.
Who wants to start a backlash against Blue Monday to make it the happiest day of the year?
