The paperchase prevails for HR professionals

default-16x9

Recently, the HR sphere has been encouraged to adopt initiatives such as Intranet, workforce metrics, self-service and knowledge management technologies to automate standard administrative responsibilities and assume a more strategic focus. However, a Softworld survey reveals that an alarming 40% of organisations are not using a computerised HR system.

The survey was conducted at Softworld HR & Payroll, which took place at Wembley in February 2000. A total of 93 HR and pay professionals were surveyed to determine the purpose of their visit, purchasing incentives and how organisations are using technology within the HR and payroll arena. 90% of those surveyed were personally involved in the IT systems selection process.

However, the survey highlighted that 73% of visitors were planning to change their software and the most significant reason for this is changing business and organisational needs (45%). The forthcoming Softworld HR & Payroll, The Annual Forum will be offering advice on selecting and implementing systems and covering the tools and techniques to improve the effectiveness of the HR and payroll functions. The event, taking place 12th - 13th September at the Chesford Grange in Warwickshire, is an education-focused extension of the main Softworld event in February and comprises an elite exhibition of the leading suppliers and a conference hosted by the top industry consultants and blue chip organisations.

The educational programme includes a Masterclass session entitled Work Force Metrics: benchmarking & key performance Indicators covering the changing dynamics of the work force within increasing competition, developing and implementing a broad-based strategy to enhance employee development practices and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to increase overall Business performance. There will also be a session on Innovative Ways of using Self-Service to Improve Employee Empowerment addressing the management and development of strategies to support the shift to a self -service culture.

Other Masterclasses sessions involve Building Strategies to Link Manpower Planning with your Overall Business Strategies, Delivering High Quality HR Management Information, Maximising the Potential of your HR Intranet to Provide Long Term Knowledge Management and Web enabled Training Infrastructures.

Exhibitors, including Midland Software, Chrystal HRS, BT and Rebus Software (UK) Ltd., will be delivering seminars divided into the themes Implementing & Integrating, Knowledge Management, Self-Service & Web enabled applications and Specialist/Other to compliment the conference programme.

All pre-registered delegates attending Softworld will receive a free copy of the Softworld Forum Buyers’ Guide (RRP £25) containing the latest market information and a detailed guide to the suppliers in this market.
