Editor's notes
==============
This week sees the launch of the next Microsite within
TrainingZone.
The Institute of Continuing Professional Development was formed
earlier this year as a multi-disciplinary forum to reinforce and
promote the critical importance of lifelong learning across all
facets of professional life. We strongly support both the concept
and practice of lifelong learning, and this Institute, with its
emphasis on raising standards in this area across all
professional
disciplines, is greatly to be welcomed. If you would like further
information about joining the Institute, have a look at the new
Microsite. LearningWire will also be carrying news and
information
items about the Institute on a regular basis. There are several
more Microsites currently under development.
The Microsites index page has also been updated to include a factsheet explaining the benefits, layout and costs associated with Microsites. If you would like to have your information made available to a wide audience in the training, learning and development sectors, please get in touch.
Continuing the theme of lifelong learning, this issue also reviews some of the items contained in the most recent issue of Individual Learning News from the Lifelong Learning Unit at the DfEE.

In the past two months, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of new subscribers to TrainingZone and LearningWire. New contacts are always welcome and we thank you for your support. Can we remind you that (apart from the paid for databases) all of TrainingZONE is - and will remain - free to use.
In return, you can help us make this service more valuable still. We want to build a large network of subscribers, so please could you forward this issue to at least three colleagues and invite them to subscribe (information on how to do this is provided at the end). Point your friends and work contacts towards the TrainingZone site where they can also register online.
We are always looking for new material to publish in the growing
Toolkit of resources. If you would like to see your training
materials widely published (with full acknowledgement to you!), please read
the notes on the site. Similarly, if you have news stories, useful
web addresses or anything which you think will be of interest to
people in a similar role to yourself, please post it in to us by email.
Thanks.
