New software for writing training manuals
Information Technology have produced new software which assists the
creation of printed training manuals. 'Write First Time' offers a series
of templates which can be used with Microsoft Word to ensure consistency of
style, design and layout enabling the author to concentrate on the content.

People Management magazine
Current issue contains feature articles on: graduates swamping the jobs
market, managers use of IT to gain business advantage, HR policies in small
businesses, reactions to the planned Fairness at Work legislation - plus
many other news stories and jobs all available online

Adult and Community Learning Fund
This is a source of funding for innovative and sustainable projects
involving partnerships between agencies to promote community-based
learning. The fund aims to bring new people into learning, develop basic
skills, build the capacity of local organisations and communities and
promote local partnership working. There is a prospectus available online.
Applications for the third round of funding will open shortly in Spring


Learning at Work Day
The Campaign for Learning has published details and an information pack
about this year's Learning at Work Day which takes place on 20 May.
There's plenty of suggestions and ideas for creative ways of engaging
everyone in the workplace in the process of learning - without it seeming
like 'back to school'. Why not try to get your manager involved? Without
a focus on learning throughout the organisation, you probably not even
standing still, but going backwards!

Learning for the 21st Century
First report of the National Advisory Group for Continuing Education and
Lifelong Learning is fully available online. The report includes an
interesting agenda for action over the next five years.

TEC delivered training
Results of a major survey into work-based training delivered throughout
England and Wales by Training and Enterprise Councils for young people and
adults during 1998. Covers Modern Apprenticeships, National Traineeships
and similar programmes. Information and statistics about the programmes,
