Time waits for no man…

default-16x9

Not long to go now, both until TrainingZone Live and also til I leave TrainingZone, SiftMedia, Bristol - nay Europe - for a few months. So I have to work at least twice as hard and as quickly to a) do everything I normally do on a day-to-day basis and b) train up Martin Couzins, my able replacement who started shadowing me on Tuesday and c) make sure I've had all my horrible injections (obviously I have) and d) make sure that I leave the job in good shape for taking it back come October.

If I don't do a decent job in training up my replacement, what with being editor of a website that focuses on trainee engagement, learning and development and all, I will be smited by the cold hand of irony. And I certainly don't want that. The handover process is a blended learning experience, with much of it informal, some of it social, a bit of it elearning - in the loosest sense of the word. But I feel it's going very well actually, and by the end of next week I'll be happy to pass over the reins of control to someone else for a while. Although it will feel a bit weird.

I hosted a great webinar yesterday morning presented by Don Taylor, about the challenges and opportunities for learning professionals. I think we'll get him back, he sounds like he's done it before. If you want to see Don's wonderful presence and presenting style then enrol for our event that's less than 2 weeks away (!) and also happens to be my very last day on the job too. Double reason to get involved (link at the top of this blogpost).
