21 degrees
Smile and turn the temperature to 21 degrees and you will have a nice environment for learning.
Better still go outside if you are in UK…Summer has arrived.
Climate for learning
This is a big question and there is not enough space here to reply. You might be better reading one of the many texts on this topic, or asking a more specific question.
But my top tips would include:
1. Firstly making learning opportunities clear and accessible, and have a guide to help people understand how they can use all forms of learning
2. Work with managers and perhaps ask them what they can do to help encourage and support learning rather than trying to prescribe solutions
3. Look for examples of good practice and ensure they get noticed, praised and the story about them gets told more widely. Examples should include informal learning through conversations, experimentation, watching others, using techniques that others may know less about (such as peer reviews, action learning, etc.)
4. Look at how organisational learning happens, including the sharing of learning across teams, learning from after action reviews and the learning from business successes and failures
5. Most importantly, get senior commitment. Not just lip service. Make sure that leaders talk about their learning, and how they learn.
Hope that helps
