Trainer training in Bristol
Hi Morag,
I recommend John Seymour who is based in the centre of Bristol.
I had been training for 20 years when I attended his train the trainer course last year with about twenty others, many with similar levels of experience and some with none at all.
John and his team are competent, experienced and great to work with to hone the skills which will enable you to develop your training practice which changes with every audience.
The key to the success of this programme is that it teaches you to fish rather than serving up tasty morsels.
It is an NLP based course which included all of the known learning theories that I have researched and a few I had not. It will provide you with the framework and resources to be an excellent trainer or coach.
Cheers.
The Whole Package
When you go to make your selection of provider Morag I wouldn’t just focus on assessing the interpersonal skills and classroom based skills development that the programme provides. I would also want to see just how sophisticated they are in relation to the learning needs identification processes they will introduce you to and equip you with, as well as the evaluation methodologies they cover and the depth and breadth this area is explored.
Whilst stand up skills are very important they are only one part of very complex process. And you might be extremely effective in the ‘stand up’ skills at the conclusion of a delivery focused ‘trainer training’ event, but without being able to identify what training needs are actually important and a priority and then not being able to validate the content and process of the training and evaluate the outcomes and results achieved it might all be very superficial in terms of what you achieve and undertake.
The training cycle consists of Needs Analysis, Design, Delivery and Evaluation. Beware of trainer training courses which focus on one element of this cycle at the expense of the others.
Happy to talk about it with you
Hello Morag, We are based in Swindon and I would be happy to have a chat with you about your ‘Train the Trainer’ course. It is one of the areas in which my training consultancy specialises. Hope this helps.

Train the Trainer
Hi Morag
It depends on what you are looking for really. Is it a formal qualification or just some good overall skills that you wish to look for in a programme?
The CIPD CTP provides an excellent base for training and gives a formally recognised qualification as well.
You could also have a look at http://www.trainerbase.co.uk for more details on possible providers? (I must admit to having an interest here as I am a freelance training consultant myself and run TTT courses based on a pragmatic real world approach to training.)
Happy to nip over the bridge to have a chat if that would help? (I live near Chepstow)

Train the trainer – thinkingpeople
Hi Morag
I have worked with thinkingpeople who are well known for their high quality, creative training and they have an office in Bristol.
I have used them for diversity and volunteer management training and they were excellent. I know they also run bespoke Training of Trainers courses for clients – their website is http://www.thinking-people.co.uk. They would definitely be worth checking out.
Check PTP
Have a look at the PTP website. They are running a one day Train the Trainer course in Solihull on 17 April. The website is http://www.ptp.co.uk or call them on 0116 268 0066.
Hope this helps
