Trainer’s tip: Do your homework to beat disruptive learners

default-16x9

Training difficult people was the best read feature on TrainingZone.co.uk last year, and it's still a hot topic, with several of you asking questions about difficult and badly behaved learners. Graham O'Connell gives his booklist to prepare against trainee bad behaviour.

You can cite a web site like this one (or see http://goliath.ecnext.com) in your assignment but you are right to get a book reference too in order to back up ideas of good practice. I am surprised your CTP provider has not provided such a resource (if they haven't then do talk with your tutor and/or let the CIPD know).

Anyway, you might try:

Arnold, J. et al (2004) Work Psychology: Understanding Human Behaviour in the Workplace (FT Prentice Hall)

HBSP (2004) Results Drive: Dealing with Difficult People at Work (Harvard Business School Press)

Hardingham, A. (1998) Psychology for Trainers (CIPD) - now out of print but still available from libraries and good book sources like Amazon.

Best of luck

Graham O'Connell
