Relax and let Google take the strain, probably one of the best places to start for this kind of thing.
We encourage our learners to use the Web as part of the blended learning on our m@sterclass and f@sterclass programmes, one of the parts of our blend is guided research into a particular topic. So if you were to go on to http://www.google.com and if you were to enter “training quotes” and do some work to look through the sites you would soon find such gems as

Knowing is not enough; we must apply.
Willing is not enough we must do. – Goethe

The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.” – John Powell

You cannot teach a man anything. You can only help him discover it within himself. – Galileo Galilei

Learning is not a spectator sport. – D. Blocher

For learning to take place with any kind of efficiency students must be motivated. To be motivated, they must become interested. And they become interested when they are actively working on projects which they can relate to their values and goals in life. – Gus Tuberville, President, William Penn College

The only kind of learning which significantly influences behavior is self-discovered or self-appropriated learning – truth that has been assimilated in experience. – Carl Rogers

It’s all to do with the training: you can do a lot if you’re properly trained. – Elizabeth II, Queen of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (b. 1926). Television documentary, BBC1, 6 Feb. 1992.

I have lived some thirty years on this planet, and I have yet to hear the first syllable of valuable or even earnest advice from my seniors. – Henry David Thoreau

  2. Quotes from training academics
I dont know whether John Cleese and Derek Rowntree are training academics but the following quotes may be useful.

“A company is only as good as its employees, and how good they are depends on how well they’ve been trained.” John Cleese

“As a manager your most precious resource is your staff – the people whose work you are responsible for. Without them you are superfluous.” Derek Rowntree

“Whatever you think you should or should not be doing about training, you will be training anyway. The example you set in your own working practices may well be the most powerful influence on how your staff chose to work.” Derek Rowntree

I am an academic who is very involved in training issues. My philosophy is as follows.

“The real value of training is that it enables employees to achieve their potential – and organisations to achieve their objectives.” Eddie Newall
