Hi.... I am working as a Training Manager in one of the Hospitals in Maharashtra (India).
I am the only one representing Training. There are around 1000 employees in the branch that i am responsible for. I need to train the employees in better communications. I have been doing different types of trainings on Communication Skills however there is no difference. The problem is that i dont get more than 2 hrs for the training delivery.
What should i do?

Training in Hospitals
Hi Shitalv,
If you don’t have the time to do more training yourself you could look at differnet ways to deliver the training.
This may be in the form of self development resources (this may be of interest to you http://www.toojays.co.uk/index.php)
Creating the desire for the individuals to learn themselves and drive the change in behaviour is the key. Various ways you can do this…
Growth and creative change is much better received than imposed change…people will be engaged more if you can outline the benefits for them as well as the hospital.
Hope that helps

communication training
Simple…
stop taking a training approach and start taking an OD approach.
The problem is NOT with your staff – they communicate all the time – just not about the topics or in the way you require.
This is a cultural change requirement. Spend your time out in the hospital, see the communications and intervene on an on going basis, showing what it could be like – if it adds value – people will copy
if not – then a change at management is required – this is a management/ leadership and cultural thing – not an individual skills thing.
How do i know? had a similar challenge when i worked in a hospital !
