Training Awards

default-16x9

Hi Guys

I am currently working on a project to totally redefine our induction and training for all core roles. I have some really great ideas about where I want this to go and I am sure at the end of the process I will have a fantastic training programme for our business.

I would be interested in thinking now about how we could get recognition for this in the form of a national training award. This is an area I have no experience in and would love some insight.

What are the training awards available?

How can you qualify and apply for an award?

What are the benefits of this to the business?

Many thanks

Sinead

I think you’ll find the answers to all your questions by looking at the National training Awards site, along with case studies about previous winners.

One word of advice, you’re unlikely to win an award just for a redesigned programme – they also look for real measurable evidence of how the learning has been transfered and how you’ve ebvaluated the impact

  2. Training Awards

    Hi Sinead,

The Institute of IT Training offer a number of awards, which you can enter for free.

The process is to submit a 3000 word submission for the category detailing why you should win a particular award.

The closing date for this is normally 31st Oct, these submissions are shortlisted, and then a round of presentations take place from mid November to Mid Dec.

The awards event takes place in the Dorchester Hotel London, on the first Thursday of Feb the following year.

The categories for the 2010 awards included:

    • Training Department of the Year
    • Training Department of the Year (Public Sector)
    • Training Company of the Year
    • Freelance Trainer of the Year
    • Trainer of the Year
    • Staff Development Programme of the Year
    • External Project of the Year
    • Internal Project of the Year
    • Learning Technologies Solution of the Year
    • Instructional Designer of the Year
    • Training Manager of the Year
    • Innovation in Training Services Award

Any awards has the potential to set what you do apart from your competitions, and if successful, people like working with winners.  They are great PR opportunities, and a way of positioning yourselves as an expert within the industry.

The obvious benefits is that the IITT awards are highly regarded, contested and sort after, and as such you are judged by your industry peers, and you get recognised within the industry.

It also shows the standard of the quality of training that you and/or your organisation provide employees and/or clients.

Some of this years winners were asked to present at this years national IITT conference, again allowing them to raise their profile within the industry.

You can find more information at: http://www.ittrainingawards.com/

I know that the BCS and the World of Learning also have annual awards, in the case of the later there is a fee that has to be paid, but I do not know that much about how you go about entering them.

  3. Training Awards

    Hi Sinead,

This might be your lucky day!  I recently commissioned my PR adviser to research Training Awards, as we are also keen to put forward an exciting programme developed this year.  I am due to catch up on all the latest news with my PR person this week.  If you contact me direct, I’ll be happy to share with you the list of possibilities she comes up with.
