Training Courses for me

default-16x9

I am looking for a qualification in training. I have searched a lot and the only course that gives a qualification seems to be the cipd certificate in training which is very expensive. Has anyone completed this course and can tell me if they thought it was helpful in their training role. If not does another know about any other courses with a qualification that maybe suitable for a trainer who is new to designing training in the work place.

  1. well….

It depends what you mean by “qualification” and what you want to get out of it, (other than a certificate).

There are many commercial organisations who offer TTT courses that are excellent for their stated aims and are probably cheaper and certainly shorter than CIPD…
ProSell used to run an excellent TTT, they may still do so, it will probably suit your skill needs but it isn’t a “Qualification” (with a capital Q)

  2. Options out there
    Hi Anne,

I have completed my CIPD Certificate in Training Practice and I found it shall we say an interesting experience. I would say if you have been in training for a few years then you certainly won’t learn much new but it will give you that all important qualification. You can explore a number of providers for a cheaper alternative such as ITOL or you can look at more specific CIPD qualifications like the new blended learning certificate. The best thing about CTP was networking with other trainers.

  3. Training Qualification
    Hello Anne
I have both the CIPD Certificate in Training Practice and also the IITT TAP qualification. Both are good, (but quite similar) although I do agree with the previous comment that if you have been training for a while there isn’t tons that you will learn.
One thing I will say, having the CTP was really valuable when applying for a new job. Just my personal opinion, but I really found it gave me the edge!
    Good luck with it.

  4. City & Guilds
I did a City & Guilds level 3 in Teaching Adults. It cost about £100 and I did one morning a week for 3 months.

  5. ITOL Foundation
We (Simulacra) offer the Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Staff Development through ITOL, which is completely delivered and assessed in 6 workshop days and incorporates confidence building in accessing and creating online learning interactives. It is an entry level for people involved in staff development but who may not be involved solely in a training function. Have a look at http://www.simulacra.com or indeed http://www.itol.org for more information.

  6. TAP – a learning system, not a single qualification
    Hello Anne

In her posting below Lucy Sleigh refers to “the IITT TAP Qualification”.

This is actually quite misleading because the TAP Learning System actually consists of 14 certificates and three Diplomas ranging from Level 2 to Level 5 equivalency, available from a total of four different awarding bodies.

You can review all of these qualifications and the associated courses online at:

    http://www.tap-training.com

You can also review over forty pages of feedback from named individuals that have recently achieved these qualifications at:

    http://www.tap-training.com/page/testimonials.html

Hope this helps resolve any potential confusion.

    Yours sincerely
