Training courses for Training Managers

default-16x9

does anyone have any suggestions on courses/programmes directly aimed at Training Managers - looking at areas such as TNA's, budgets, how and where
it fits into the organisation, training plans for benchmarking, monitoring and evaluation, use of third party suppliers etc etc.
Any suggestions would be welcome, particularly if there is a Scotland based solution!

  1. Many Options
There are plenty of options for you on this one and a lot depends on what exactly the training manager does, what their preffered learning styles are etc.

As someone has already suggested in an earlier thread the SVQ (NVQ in England) Level 4 is a possibility – these can often be sourced from a local training provider (contact your chamber of commerce), will often be subsidised in their delivery (the course cost in Huddersfield for an SME was around £300) and are delivered on site. The disadvantage of these courses are that NVQ’s are often not taken seriously in the workplace (the Not Very Qualified tag has been hard to shake) undeservedly as they are much improved over their original generation and they involve lots of coursework.

The CIPD’s management development may be what you’re looking for in terms of budgetary management, people development and again you should be able to find a local provider – but check out the threads elsewhere on this site regarding how people feel about CIPD as regards training.

If your manager specialises in IT then http://www.iitt.org.uk may be able to help.

There are numerous membership bodies that may be able to offer assistance here.

You might also choose to study seperate qualifications to gain the best coverage – a finance for non-financial managers course (available widely through major providers) may help more with budgeting then a training specific course. And so on…
