We are about to launch a new series of management development and, in place of a full set of subject videos we currently use to "frame" each session, we want to move to more experiential or practical simulations/games.
For example, Colour Blind by Future Factory is one which we will use on the communication session. We want more for customer services, negotiation, time management, organising/delegating, problem solving, change, and so on through the management skills.
Not lego-building type stuff please! We want to move on to the more modern / innovative support activities to precede or be part of our training modules.
Suggestions appreciated. Thanks. Ken Naismith

Sharing information effectively – game
We have developed one particular exercise that might be suitable for your needs. It tests individuals ability to share information effectively, only by doing so can delegates solve the problem. This is a lengthy exercise requiring 1.5 to 2 hours. We have also developed a range of other simulation exercises including one customer service simulation that tests the ability to gather information effectively through open questioning.
We are always interested in developing training material and simulations to exact requirements and are great advocates of experiential training techniques. For more information visit our website at http://www.pdc-online.co.uk or telephone us on 01423 546958.
Teambuilding/leadership/communication/problem solving
We have available a series of mobile, large-scale ‘initiative’ exercises that can be used in numerous ways by trainers to highlight and enhance aspects of groupwork such as teambuilding, leadership, communication, problem solving. These can be set out in the grounds of (eg) a hotel or even a car park (!) and some can be used inside as well. We feel that they bridge the gap between ‘lego-building’ type activities and fully-fledged outdoor pursuits – they are fun, challenging and certainly experiential/practical. We can deliver, set up and even staff the activities if required, supporting your training activities. If you would like more information, or would like to discuss the resources that we can offer in more detail, do call me on 01202 468190 or email your contact details.
Training Games/Simulations
Ken,
We have found “Adair’s Management Development Exercises” to be very useful. They cover a range of situations/experiences and contain both outdoor and indoor activities. I believe it is available from the IPD.

A variety of sources
My experience is that the States have a number of useful authors/editors of compilations such as Pfeiffer. The range is good and often copyright is waived for education and training purposes.
Closer to home try the publishers with mangement/education activities.
Interactive Training program developers – TNA Ltd.
Ken,
We design and create bespoke interactive training programs for CD-ROM, internet and intranet delivery.
For example, this week we delivered an interactive ‘in tray’ exercise for a major management consultancy. Graduate applicants are faced with a range of tasks to consider and respond to in the way they believe most appropriate (emails, telephone calls, reports, etc). They are timed and all responses logged, marked, scored and savd to a server database for later analysis.
Our clients include First National, Kef, SITA, PA Consulting and Nokia.
Our web site is at http://www.tnanet.com. If you would like to discuss your requirements in more detail – and the ways in which a bespoke interactive tool might fulfill them – please give me a call on 01825 761774.
Regards, Tim Neill TNA Ltd.
