Training in a Mailing/Print Operation

I need some advise on setting up a training plan specifically for printers and mailing operatives.

The business manager I report to has been moved into this area to both manage and turn around. Changes have been made that have had a great impact on the operation and staffing i.e. restructuring and the introduction of many new processes. There will also be aproximately 30 new starters to induct around mid-late Sepetember.

There is no training function/plan/material in the area and never has been. The manager has therefore tasked me with putting something into place by early September. This is a daunting task for me as I have no experience of training in a 'heavy machinery' environment.

Could anybody out there give me some guidelines on best practice or share with me their experiences. Anything would be greatly accepted. I do need to add that there is no training budget for external consultants.

Do I sound desperate?!!

    try talking to phoenix business consultants (info@phoenixbusiness.co.uk) i know you say there is no money for external support but I know phoenix do a lot for The Stationery Office so may have some ideas and wouild probably help if it lead to opportunities in the future
